Europe could use the potential of the Ukrainian energy sector due to geographic proximity and existing ties, Timchenko is sure.
Ukraine could support Europe’s energy security in a crisis situation. DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko spoke about the possibilities of the Ukrainian energy sector for the European market during the International Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in Lugano (Switzerland).
“Ukraine has the opportunity to use its geographic proximity and existing links to European energy markets to support European energy security. This is possible due to rich wind and solar resources, the potential in gas production, gas storage infrastructure and the future green hydrogen production, ”he said. .
According to him, international investors have already expressed their readiness to realize this potential, but for this Ukraine must provide the necessary political guarantees and clear employment policies.
“The Ukraine Recovery Conference is the first stage and a significant event on the way to the restoration of post-war Ukraine, which should take place in well-coordinated cooperation with international partners,” Timchenko summed up.
As reported, during the conference in Lugano, a plan was presented for the construction of 30 GW of “green” energy in Ukraine until 2032.
So far, the capacity of Ukrainian “green” energy is 9 GW. DTEK had earlier proposed a plan to increase renewable energy to 30 GW by 2030.
