In order to maintain and develop the Ukrainian gas industry, Naftogaz must buy gas produced domestically as a priority. This will allow manufacturers to build, says Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK. He spoke about the situation in the industry in an interview with Forbes.
“The country needs this gas, and domestic producers need funding for investment. We offer to buy it at market prices, which are still lower than the prices for imported gas, ” he says.
Timchenko noted that of the funds spent on the purchase of Ukrainian gas, 30% will return to the budget in the form of rent, and another 10% in the form of other taxes.
Earlier, Naftogaz said that due to the war, the level of gas production this year could drop by 3-6%. According to experts – up to 16 billion cubic meters from 19.8 billion cubic meters. m in 2021 (a decrease of 2.2%).
Naftogaz estimates that $ 8 billion will be needed to buy 5.8 billion cubic meters of gas for the winter.
