At the Oscars, Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, shaving her head. Pinkett Smith spoke publicly about fighting alopecia. Smith climbed on stage and slapped Rock in the face. Returning to his seat, he shouted, “Don’t take my wife’s name out of your mouth.”
That same night, as the family of Venus and Serena Williams starred in her award-winning “King Richard,” Smith apologized, but not Rock. The next day he publicly apologized to Rock on Instagram.
