Arizona Official Testifies Emotionally About Trump’s Stand –

Russell Rusty Bowers, a Republican speaker in the Arizona House of Representatives, repeatedly stopped trying to withhold during testimony on Tuesday when he described the consequences of refusing to break his oath by declaring Donald Trump as a win. 2020 presidential election.

Trump and his lawyers have been instrumental in a campaign of intense pressure on the Bowers since it became apparent that Joe Biden had won several major states, including Arizona. In the last weeks of his presidency, Trump relied on some government officials to try to publicly declare that election fraud undermined Biden’s victory, but they refused. They were with Bowers, as he testified at the fourth public hearing held on Jan. 6, 2021 by the House Committee of Investigators on the attack on the United States Capitol.

“No – no solid evidence was presented … no one would tell me, ‘You doubt. “Reject your curse.” “I won’t,” Bauers said of Trump’s deceptive allegations.

He said his faith in the constitution, which he called “God’s inspiration,” was a “provision” of his faith.

“And so do it for me because someone asked me to be a stranger to my personality,” Bowers said. “I won’t do that.”

Bauers is emotional when discussing attempts to overthrow an election: “The principle of my belief is that the Constitution is divine that inspires my core beliefs. So I do it because someone asked me, it’s foreign to me personality. I won’t do that. ” pic.twitter.com/NKGKvgKALJ

Trump’s team has repeatedly argued in court that various forms of election fraud occurred in 2020. However, the courts have repeatedly ruled against him and found that there was no such evidence.

Bauers described talking to Trump’s team, where he asked if he could see the evidence claimed by former New York Mayor Rudy Julian. “Julian said he would do it, but he didn’t,” Bowers said.

The Arizona lawmaker also denied attempts by Trump allies to take him to the polls to approve the state’s voter list. List of pro-Trump voters.

Bowers said John Eastman, Trump’s lawyer, told him, “Just do it and let the courts decide.”

Bowers recalled his response: “You are asking me to do what has never been done in the history of the United States.”

Elsewhere, Bowers read a brief excerpt from his personal diary, written in late 2020, at the request of committee member Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).

“I don’t want to win by cheating. “I’m not going to play by the laws I’ve sworn allegiance to,” Bauers said. He explained how his office received more than 20,000 emails and “tens of thousands” of voice and text messages from Trump supporters at the time.

The “circus”, as he referred to in the post -election results, even appeared at his doorstep. Bowers confirmed that Trump supporters went to his home, angered by his critically ill daughter. (He died a few weeks later then.)

“At home … it’s a new pattern in our lives for thinking about what will happen on Saturday when different groups come to us,” Bowers said. “They have trucks of video panels along with my videos declaring me a pedophile and a wicked and corrupt politician.”

“So annoying,” he said. “Annoying.”

Shortly before the hearing, Trump released a statement insulting Bauers, calling him “the latter [Republican in name only] Play on a separate committee ”- his nickname for the room panel. Trump said Bowers told him in November 2020 that the election was “deceived” and that Trump “won Arizona”.

He concluded with an obvious threat: “Bauer should hope it’s not on tape.”

Under oath, Bauers replied. He said that before speaking to the president “this is definitely not the case”.

“Everywhere you look today, the tide of protectionist sentiment is flowing.

The House Committee investigating the attack on the Capitol is expected to hold a second hearing on Thursday as it continues its investigation.
