Find out how the war affected gas production

Many gas wells and infrastructure facilities are close to the front line, production has already fallen by 6%.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, daily gas production in Ukraine has fallen by 6.1%, Naftogaz chief Yuriy Vitrenko said on Tuesday, June 21.

“Unfortunately, because of the war, when many of our wells are on the front line, many other infrastructure facilities that affect production volume are in the zone of the most active fighting, we see a decline in production. But now we are trying to stabilize the situation, ”Vitrenko said.

He also said $ 8 billion is needed to buy 5.8 billion cubic meters of gas for the winter. At the same time, the head of Naftogaz believes that 15 billion cubic meters of gas will be enough for Ukraine to pass the heating season instead of the 19 billion planned by the government.

Earlier, the head of the NAC said that due to the war, the level of gas production this year could drop by 3-6%. According to experts – up to 16 billion cubic meters from 19.8 billion cubic meters. m in 2021 (a decrease of 2.2%).
