Three people were killed and 14 were injured following a gunshot or vehicle collision in the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee on Sunday morning, authorities said.
People gathered at Mary’s Bar and Grill at 2:40 am when authorities said they had received calls for gunshot wounds.
In all, 14 people were killed in the shooting while 3 people were run over by vehicles attempting to flee the scene. Two of the injured died, as well as a man who was hit by a car, Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy said at a news conference.
Authorities are looking for some to shoot. No immediate arrests were made, Murphy said.
“We are trying to determine exactly what happened and what cause it,” he said, adding that his department believed the violence is an isolated incident and that there is no permanent threat to public safety.
The violence came a week after six people were injured in a May 28 shooting in downtown Chattanooga. Police then said two groups of people started shooting at each other during the Arabs attack, around 11pm, without targeting anyone. Some of the injured were unwanted victims.
Elsewhere in the country, three people were killed and at least 11 were injured in a shooting in downtown Philadelphia late Saturday. Nor was he immediately arrested in this incident.
