Starting tomorrow, JYSK stores in Russia will temporarily reopen for sale in empty warehouses.

The well -known Danish company JYSK, which manages furniture and household goods stores, has announced a complete reduction of business in Russia. It was reported on the company’s website on Wednesday, March 30th.

“After four weeks of temporarily closing stores in Russia, it has become clear that JYSK will permanently close and completely leave Russia,” the statement said.

JYSK President and CEO Jan Beg said that “in the current situation, management and our owners see no visible alternative to closing our operations in Russia.”

At the same time, from March 31, JYSK stores in Russia will temporarily reopen for a sale so that the warehouses are empty. Once the goods are sold, the stores will be permanently closed.

“I have no doubt that this is right. I want to thank all our colleagues in Russia for their efforts and wish them good luck in the coming years,” Jan Beg added.

It is learned that the first JYSK store in Russia opened in June 2020 in Moscow. Currently, its network includes 13 stores in Russia. In the next 10-15 years, the company plans to increase the number of stores in Russia to almost 200. As a result, Russia should enter the top five countries for this chain.

Earlier this week it was learned that the world’s largest beer producers Ab Inbev, Carlsberg and Heineken were leaving Russia.

Meanwhile, Severstal became the first company in the Russian Federation to have a technical default. He ran out of time to pay off his debt, which totaled $ 1.8 billion.
