Renewable energy could help restore the Ukrainian economy after the war, Timchenko said.
Renewable energy could be the basis of the plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war, and the country could be a leader in the development of clean energy, says DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko. He spoke about the future of Ukraine’s energy sector in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davo.
“And this is exactly what Putin fears, that Ukraine will not only be successful, but will be an example in building a new clean energy, creating a green, modern economy, and will also be part of the European security system. of energy, ”Timchenko said.
He is confident that Ukraine will be able to significantly enhance EU energy security by expanding energy cooperation, which focuses on the development of renewable energy sources, hydrogen technology and energy storage systems.
The head of DTEK recalled that on March 16, a historic event took place for Ukraine – Ukraine joined the EU energy network after several years of preparation.
“The next important date and decision on the road is the beginning of commercial electricity exports to the EU. It is necessary and beneficial not only for Ukraine, which is at war and in need of finance, but also for in the EU, which could receive additional energy resources and partially replace Russia’s energy resources, ”Timchenko said.
During the forum in Davos, DTEK called on European companies to join the project on the development of renewable energy in Ukraine. The company proposes to increase the capacity of renewable energy sources in Ukraine to 30 GW by 2030.
