13 Shot, 10 Dead In ‘Racially Motivated Hate Crime’ At Buffalo Supermarket: Sheriff –

Ten people were killed and three were injured in a “racially motivated” shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York on Saturday.

Police arrested Peyton Gendron, an 18 -year -old white man, after he – armed with a rifle and tactical vest – fired in and out of Tops Friendly Market. The market is primarily located in a black spot, about 3 miles north of downtown Buffalo.

Nation Sheriff John Garcia called the shooting a hate crime at a press conference Saturday.

“It’s pure evil,” Garcia said. “It was a hate crime that directly incited race outside of our community to enter our community and try to inflict this evil on us.”

Of the 13 who died, 11 were black and two were white. At a press conference Saturday night, New York Governor Katie Hochle (D) called the killer as a “white supremacist involved in a terrorist act and, consequently, punishable”.

Gendron traveled about three and a half hours from Conclin, New York, to Buffalo.

“It’s the worst nightmare a company can face. We’re in pain and we’re crying right now,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said at a news conference. it can’t even be explained. “

Police also confirmed that the suspect broadcast the shooting live on Twitch. In a statement, a Twitch spokesperson confirmed that there was a live broadcast of the footage and said the company was working to monitor the potential re -transfer of content.

The victims were not named, but Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said Saturday that one of the victims was a “favorite” retired Buffalo Police Officer who worked to guard the store. Gramaglia said a security guard was killed when he exchanged guns with a suspect who was once shot with armored firearms.

I just spoke to an 8 year old girl hiding in the refrigerator of a grocery store.

He was shopping with his father and ran to the back of the store.

8 years. @WKBW
