Charles Herbster, who is accused of sexually assaulting eight women, went missing in the Republican Primaries with Nebraska Governor on Tuesday at University of Nebraska Regent Jim Pillen.
In 2021, Pillen introduced a resolution banning the teaching of critical race theory from the university system. However, the Regency Council voted.
However, the focus of the contest was on Herbster, both his relationship with Donald Trump and his controversies.
Herbster was a longtime donor and ally of the former president and received incentives during the Trump era He backed him late last year. Trump went to the state to campaign for him on May 1 and held a televised rally a week before the election.
“Trump – who is threatening charges of rape, assault and harassment of more women – is being called Herbster.” Good man And said, “He is innocent of these heinous accusations.”
“I have to protect my friends, I have to protect good people,” he told the crowd. “These are disastrous accusations of delaying the election for a long time until there is adequate protection.”
Many Republicans in the state disliked Herbster’s support for Trump. Last year, former Governor Pete Ricketts (R) asked the former president to remain neutral. Later, Ricketts backed Pillen, saying he would be Herbster. ”
Eight women accused Herbster of attacking them, including a state senator in his party. State Senator Julie Slam told the Nebraska Examiner that in 2019 she was at a GOP funding dinner when she went to Herbster. According to the examiner, “she lifted her skirt without permission and touched it inappropriately.”
Another woman who attended the same dinner and worked as a legislative assistant in Nebraska said Herbster also insulted her at the same dinner.
“I searched for years to find Charles W.‘ The Herbster Experience, ’’ Elizabeth Todsen said. “In the political event of 2019, Herbster is sexually violent To greet my table.”
Herbster removed a page from Trump’s playbook, denied the allegations, and Attacked the Women Who Made the Allegations. He even sued Slam for libel, calling his claims “part of a larger scheme designed to try and do that. I lost my candidacy.”
But the allegations bore fruit and Herbster lost momentum. “All 13 women in the Nebraska State Senate, including Democrats and Republicans, signed a letter stating that Herbster’s alleged conduct” was completely unacceptable AND that she was “not eligible for service.”
Trump won Nebraska by 19 percentage points in the 2020 election and has not been a Democratic governor there in decades. Pillen will face Democratic Senator Carol Bladd in November.
