Uniper is in talks with its contracting partner on specific payment terms, the group said.
The biggest German energy concern is that Uniper will continue to pay in euros for Russia’s gas. The company will resume consultations on the matter with the German government, TASS reports on Wednesday, May 11.

“Uniper will continue to pay in euros. Uniper is in talks with its contract partner on specific payment terms, and is also in close consultation with the German government,” a company spokesman said.
However, he did not specify whether the company had opened a new account with Gazprombank, and did not say when the next payment would have to be made.
Earlier, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported, citing Klaus-Dieter Maubach, CEO of Uniper, that the company does not exclude the use of a method whereby gas payments are made in euros and then converted into rubles through Gazprombank.
The other day, it was reported that Germany was preparing for a sudden shutdown in Russia’s gas supplies via an emergency package. This may include taking control of critical companies.
