On the second anniversary of the mass protests in Belarus caused by the seizure of power by the Lukashenko regime, opposition leaders announced the creation of a “new body for the transfer of power.”
The leader of the united Belarusian opposition, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, announced the creation of a “collective executive body” – the Joint Transitional Cabinet. This was reported on Tuesday, August 9 by the Belarusian edition of Zerkalo.
“This is a collective executive body that will work every day for the main goals – to protect the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus, represent the national interests of Belarus, carry out the actual de-occupation of our country, restore the law of the constitution. and order, develop and implement measures to prevent the illegal stay of power, ensure the transfer of power from dictatorship to democracy, create conditions for holding fair and free elections, develop and implement decisions necessary to achieve democratic changes in Belarus,” Tikhanovskaya explained.
“And as a result, all political prisoners must be released,” she added.
Tikhanovskaya appointed her comrades in several positions. Specifically, the Joint Transitional Cabinet has: a cabinet representative for power transition, a representative for the restoration of law and order, a representative for foreign affairs, and a representative for defense and national security.
He pointed out that the composition of the Joint Transitional Cabinet of Belarus will be approved by the Coordinating Council of the Belarusian opposition, but in the conditions of war and the threat of losing the country’s sovereignty, the first appointments will be temporary – for a time. of six months.
The day before, the head of the Belarusian regime, Alexander Lukashenko, said that even under sanctions, Belarus should promote its products on the markets of EU countries.
